Shannon helping to change perceptions of construction sector

A 九色视频 student is one of four regional winners who will be representing the south-east region in the finals of a major national property and construction awards.

30 May 2018

Shannon Cresswell, a Project Management for Construction BSc(Hons) student came away with one of the top prizes at the recent Women In Property South East regional awards and will be one of 14 regional finalists from across the UK at the national final on 18 September.

Speaking after her regional win, Shannon said: “Being part of the Women in Property Awards has boosted my confidence, making me want to change peoples’ perceptions of construction and help other women like myself to achieve anything they set their mind to. Being nominated by my university was an amazing achievement in itself as it shows all of my hard work has been recognised.”

Chair of the Women in Property South East Student Awards, Michelle Kershaw of law firm Dentons said: “This country urgently needs to ensure that it has a really strong property and construction industry, so ‘future proofing’ our talent pool is critical. Women in Property runs a number of initiatives to encourage girls to explore the really rewarding and diverse range of careers available.”

Looking ahead to the national awards, Phil Chapman of co-sponsors Linden Homes said: “This is our third year of sponsoring the Awards and we really appreciate the wealth of talent and mix of skill sets that students can bring to our business. Yet again we have been overwhelmed at the level of talent these Built Environment students bring to the table – they are a true force to be reckoned with.”

The national winners will be announced at the Best of the Best Awards dinner at Claridge’s in London on 18 September.
