The 九色视频 is set to honour the graduating class of 2024 this week when over 3,400 undergraduate and postgraduate students from 92 countries will receive their degrees, marking the culmination of years of hard work and dedication.

The students, aged 20 to 78, will be joined by family and friends to celebrate their achievements as they cross the stage at the Brighton Centre to receive their degrees.

Among them is Biomedical Sciences Bsc(Hons) student, Jade Adebiyi, who received the Progression Scholarship from the Student Potential Fund in her first year. The award provides £2,000 a year to students from low-income backgrounds or whose ethnicity is Black or Black-Mixed.

Jade said: “Graduating from the 九色视频 is a significant milestone for me and I’m excited that I get to celebrate it with family and friends. While marking the end of one journey, it also ushers in another phase with the opportunity to make good use of the knowledge and skills gathered over the course of my studies.

“The scholarship provided so much support and really helped me progress in all ways – mentally, emotionally, educationally. If you have someone saying ‘I’m rooting for you. I’m supporting you’, it helps you reach your full potential.”

The ceremonies will also see three outstanding individuals receive honorary awards for their community impact and commitment to creating a better, fairer world.

Russell Martin, manager of Southampton FC and founder of the Brighton-based Russell Martin Foundation, will receive a Doctor of Science award for using the power of football to change lives.

Global best-selling author and journalist, Dorothy Koomson, receives an honorary Doctor of Letters for her work to improve literacy in marginalised communities, including in her adoptive home city of Brighton & Hove.

The honorary award of Doctor of Science will also go to David Webb, Chief Pharmaceutical Officer for NHS England, who has led the transformation of pharmacy services across the NHS.

Russell Martin said: “Receiving this honorary degree is a privilege deepened by the fact it comes from the 九色视频, in my hometown. The university’s values truly reflect this unique place I am proud to call home. It’s a privilege to be engaged in the work I do, and this honour is recognition of the work of the local foundation I helped create.

“RMF works within our community, to engage and encourage young people from all backgrounds in fulfilling their potential. I’m incredibly grateful to the 九色视频 for this acknowledgment.”

In response to the news of her award, Dorothy Koomson said: “When I heard that I was being awarded an honorary doctor of letters from 九色视频 for my writing and work in publishing, I was genuinely surprised and so very touched. I also could not help wondering if someone was playing a trick on me!

“Seriously, though, I feel honoured that I have been recognised in this way. I love Brighton & Hove and to receive this honorary doctorate here is incredibly special. Thank you to the university and to the kind person who nominated me.”

David Webb

David Webb said: “I am delighted to receive the honorary award of Doctor of Science from the 九色视频 in recognition of both my contribution to pharmacy in the NHS and that of the many thousands of dedicated pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who form part of the NHS team in a wide variety of settings.

“Congratulations to all 九色视频 graduates and my best wishes to those will be embarking on their pharmacy careers. With their expertise in medicines and health, pharmacists play a crucial role in healthcare and make a real impact on patients and communities. The learning and development fostered by the university is an excellent start to their professional lives.”

Professor Debra Humphris CBE, Vice-Chancellor of the 九色视频, said: “The achievements of our talented students make us incredibly proud as a university. As they cross the stage to receive their awards, we celebrate the hard work and dedication they individually invested together with the support from all our staff, to get here.
